Hofbrauhaus and you: Munich, Germany

After completion of my last post,  it was far to late to take advantage of the free tours around Munich that I wanted to participate in.  The only thing which I could find was a "beer challenge" for 12EU, and came with two beers and a yager.  I then thought to myself "well, when in Rome", and made my way off to the tour.  After arriving at the pick-up destination, I was told that we needed another 3-4 more paying members to make this tour "official", and that if the required money was not raised, that the tour guide would take us on an "unofficial" tour.  Well the clock ticked 6:15, and our incredibly anxious-to-get-started tour guide "Austin" from Texas ran the six of us down to the nearest shop to buy us our first drink.  Now I'll tell you, walking around downtown Munich with a bunch of singing foreigners was quite the experience.  I was half expecting to get arrested, but I was assured that this was legal here in the beer capital of the world.

We visited half a dozen beer halls/gardens, but the most interesting one was definitely the Hofbrauhaus.  This place had a great main hall with massive ceiling,  huge oak tables with tons of carvings in their face, and of course, the oompa-oompa band and pretzel maids.  I almost felt at home for a second, haha.  The drinks they gave us there were H-U-G-E, and we sat beside the most stereotypical "jolly-drunk-German-man" ever, it was great.  I honestly wish I had more detail on the "tour", but my memory is fairly hazy.

On a side note, I'm not sure what I'm going to do for power over here.  The plugs that they have here all dig into the wall, and the converters I bought don't fit correctly.  Because of this I'm going to have to keep these posts short and sweet, as I have enough power for maybe 3 more at this rate.

Gonna go on another tour tomorrow, so we'll see where that takes me.

-Kyle, buggn' out.

See if you can find a dollar store (or a Euro store I guess) or something like it for a plug converter. Am glad you enjoyed the hofbrauhaus and hope you didn't have to partake in the "puke troughs" while there.

I miss the Hoffbrauhaus. Great memories, or lack therof. Some of the best beer I drank came from that pub, and the portions: WOW. Fun fact that you probably know: Hitler once tried to stage his rise to power in what would later be known as the "beer hall putsch" in that very hall. The more you know.
