Ok, fine. My title isn't original, but it's MY blog, and I had this title planned for MONTHS! Just because everyone else is on the same wave length, does not mean that I should bend to their will! I scoff at theeeeeeee! Scoff I say!
Well, now that I got that off of my chest, I will regale you with a colourful story of chocolate and bon bon (chocolate and bon bons not included).
Brasov was an interesting town. White means black, and black means white. Dracula castles dot the country side, but I never get to see any of the "authentic" ones. Very little time was allowed for Brasov, but it was certainly worth the visit. Lack of beggars aside, the city was somewhat of a confused little town. Cold weather coupled with rain certainly added to the depressing visual characteristics of the city. Adding to the "really? honestly?" effect, the city had a "HOLLYWOOD" sign of its own, which dominated the skyline at night. The city itself was small, where it only took a few hours to explore. The only real pain was that the train/bus station was a long distance from my hostel, so organizing my bus trip to Istanbul was impossible. I eventually gave up and booked a ticket to Bucharest (on the way to Istanbul anyway).
Due to my wish to see Istanbul for longer than 2 days, I sacrificed Brasov and Bucharest for the cause. One day in each was all I could manage, and quite honestly, all that I needed.
The major (cool sounding) attractions were all within 500 metres of eachother. The Black tower, the White tower, and the Black Church were the big boys. Interestingly enough, the Black Church was not really black, and both the Black/White Towers were more of a Gray tone. They were quite lackluster to be honest, but I didn't have anything else to do.
The highlight of Brasov was just walking the back streets at night. Lots of eerie lighting, and a higher than normal possibility of stabbing/robbing added to the overall excitement. The morning of my Brasov departure got me

(BTW: it's "finish". I can overlook once, but twice requires a comment)
Thanks for clearing up the whole dysentary, cholera, camel, oxen and Oregon mystery.
Am standing by for news of distraction and Istanbul.
Mom
I too am looking forward to an update on the distraction.
Today at work I did 3 puzzles, read one magazine and ate 2 cupcakes. It is just thrills my the minute here!!!
Happy St. Paddy's!!!
Oh man, I want a cupcake now. I was thinking of making some for my birthday though, mmmmmmmmm.
I wonder what the distraction is...
Can't wait to hear the rest.
Later,
Tiff
long story short (I have a bus to catch, sorry) is that St Paty's day was a good time. More on that in two weeks or so (hahahaah)
or paddy.... whatever
I cannot wait two weeks!!! Are you CRAZY!?? Or just mean? I am leaning towards the latter...
I am still bored and today there are no cupcakes at work.
Man, no cupcakes at my work...but I did discover the awesomeness that is pretzels! Its the perfect at work snack - no mess and no sticky/greasy/whatevery fingers.
Btw: stick pretzels are vastly superior to their inferior curly brethren.
And yeah, I thought about "finnish" for a second...thinking it might be an attempt at some geographical humour...and then I concluded it was actually just a typo. =)
